FOUR goals on Bank Holiday Monday saw the Magpies get their first home win of the season, thanks to the brilliance of Mark Ellis, Mike Calveley and Scott Wilson, who all headed home from Adam Blakeman's delicious deliveries.
We now turn our attention to Oxford City, where the last time we visited Court Place Farm, it ended in a goalless draw in 2015.
The Opponents
The Hoops have had a slow start to the season so far, failing to win five of their opening league games, with their last three matches ending in defeat.
Furthermore, Oxford City have been a side to leak goals so far in these opening games of the season, conceding 12 goals and scoring four.
In addition, they've have had four different goalscorers so far: two midfielders, a defender, and a striker. It will be interesting to see if Oxford can add a new name to the list of goalscorers.
Oxford City's first game was back in 1884, where they would come out losers to Thame Grammer School in a 4-2 defeat.
The Manager
Sam Cox is the new man in charge of Oxford City. He did a remarkable job as interim manager at Wealdstone last season, keeping them in the National League on the final day of the campaign.
For Cox, this is his first full-time position as manager of a club. Although it has not been the best of starts for the 33-year-old manager, the former midfielder will be looking to find a way to turn things around this weekend.
In addition, Cox had a fantastic footballing career coming through the Spurs academy, where he made moves to Cheltenham Town, Histon, Torquay United, Barnet, Boreham Wood, Hayes and Yeading United, Wealdstone, Braintree, Welling United, Hampton and Richmond Borough.
A word from Preecy
"Another really tough, tricky trip coming up this weekend away at Oxford City. We don't know an awful lot about them, but, we'll prepare and do our homework and will be up to the test. Hopefully, we can come out of it with the right result."
