CHORLEY put in a spirited performance but ultimately came away empty handed, falling to a a 3-1 defeat at Kidderminster Harriers.

The Magpies looked the better team for the majority of the game and, despite an own goal bringing them level shortly after the break, the hosts came back with two late goals to take all three points.

Harriers took the lead largely against the run of play when Michael Gyasi finished in the 17th minute.

The visitors battled well and had an equaliser ruled out not long after, with Jack Sampson being deemed to be in an offside position after tapping home from Tom Carr’s saved header.

They were struck a further blow when Sampson was forced off with injury just before half time.

Having said that, Andy Preece's side made an excellent start to the second half with Tom Walker’s inswinging cross flicking off an opposition head and finding the far corner of Christian Dibble’s goal.

With the game hanging in the balance, the Magpies looked well-placed for at least a point or to even go on and win the game but Kidderminster re-took the lead with 12 minutes to go, Kurt Willoughby scrambling home from a corner.

Proceedings at Aggborough then finished off in the 85th minute as fellow substitute Luke Spokes netted a third, game, set, and match, Harriers.

The end result was disappointing in a game which Chorley had their fair share of chances and possession but they will now turn their attention to next week’s trip to Worksop Town.
