AFTER Saturday's heartbreak in the game's final minutes away at Alfreton Town, the Magpies will be looking to bounce back against 14th-place Darlington, under the lights, at the Grant Store Victory Park Stadium.

The Opponents

The Quakers were recently on a six-game unbeaten run in the Vanarama National League North, winning three and drawing three before recently losing away at King's Lynn Town.

Darlington have three players who are joint top goalscorers this season at the club.

Will McGowan, Jack Maskell, and Will Hatfield are the three. McGowan recently scored two goals in one game against Southport, which saw him level the other two.

It will be three away trips in a row for the Quakers, with the past two either a draw or defeat. The visitors will be looking to bring home a win on the road before they host Warrington Town on Saturday.

The Manager

Steve Watson is the gaffer. Having taken over last year, Watson has been looking to build upon that season.

Before Watson became a manager, he was a player with a fantastic football career.

He had stints at Newcastle, where he started his career, Aston Villa, Everton, West Brom, and Sheffield Wednesday.

After retiring from playing the game in 2009, Watson started his managerial career at Gateshead in 2017, where he was in charge for two years.

Following his time at Gateshead, the former Newcastle man made the switch to York City in 2019, where he would be in charge for another two years before moving to Chester, where the midfielder would be in charge for a year.

A word from Preecy

“Make no mistake, this will be a tough game. We are going to be looking to get back to winning ways after the disappointment of the weekend at Alfreton Town. We’ve worked hard and are confident of getting the right result on Tuesday night.”
