FOLLOWING a 3-1 victory at home against Marine AFC in the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday, we now turn our attention to another cup competition.
This time in the Lancashire Senior Trophy against local rivals, Bamber Bridge.
The Opponents
Bamber Bridge currently sits 16th in the Northern Premier Davison. Former loanee Lucas Weaver is the club's top goal-scorer, scoring an impressive ten goals. Weaver has since moved to Radcliffe after his successful stint with the Briggers.
Like the Magpies last weekend, Bamber Bridge played in the Isuzu FA Trophy, where they faced Farsley Celtic.
The Briggers put up an impressive performance throughout the 90 minutes and if it was not for some fine goalkeeping from Kieran Flavell in the Farsley net, Jamie Milligan's men could have been in the next round of the competition.
The Manager
Jamie Milligan is the club's manager. The former Everton, Fleetwood, and Blackpool midfielder has been in charge since 2019.
Milligan has done some remarkable things during his time in charge of the club.
Getting Bamber Bridge all the way to the playoff final in 2023, where they would fall short at the final hurdle.
As well as that, Milligan gets the Briggers playing some excellent football and it will be an interesting battle on Tuesday evening when the last time Bamber Bridge came to Chorley, the visitors squeezed through on penalties.
Since the club's top goalscorer has since left, it will be interesting to see how Milligan adopts his approach. With veteran Simon Grand now playing in attack, it will be an interesting battle for the Magpies.
A word from Preecy
“A game away from the league against local rivals Bamber Bridge, we know what Jamie and his side are about and this is going to be a game for players to get opportunities under the lights in what promises to be an exciting fixture.”
