WE’RE back at home this Saturday to take on Blyth Spartans in the Third Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy - one step closer to the final at Wembley Stadium.

The Magpies' fixture last Saturday against Buxton at the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium sadly fell victim to the bitterly cold weather as the pitch was deemed unplayable after it was frozen solid on the morning of the game.

Our visitors were scheduled to have a game in the Newcastle Flooring Senior Cup on Tuesday evening vs Newcastle Benfield, only for the match to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Croft Park.

Blyth Spartans beat Warrington Town 1-3 in the Second Round of the competition, two late goals from Cedric Main and Nicky Deverdics securing a spot against the Magpies here.

The Green Army have only won three of their last ten competitive fixtures across all competitions with four draws and three defeats in there.

Our last meeting was at Croft Park only a few weeks ago, Mike Calveley heading home the opening goal before Nicky Deverdics grabbed a last-gasp equaliser at the death for the hosts on the night.
