THE football club were sad to learn of the passing of former Chorley player, Ian Stringfellow at the end of August.
Ian was a member of the Chorley FC Community Foundation Friendship Group (previously known at the Sporting Memories Group).
Having been at Leyland Motors, Ian signed for the Magpies in the summer of 1972 after the club were relegated into the Cheshire League from the Northern Premier League.
Ian, pictured with his friends and former Chorley players, Colin Hall, Ian Sandford and Eddie Birchall at his last Friendship Group meeting back in October 2023.
A comment from Maureen, upon Ian's passing, reads, "'He was a lovely man, he used to shout, 'I've got him' when he was nowhere near a player, just to put the players in the other team off."
Sadly, Ian passed away with Dementia. Everybody at the football club wishes to pass on their well-wishes and condolences to the Stringfellow family at this time.
We are delighted that Ian's wife, Jackie, his brother David, sister Janet, nephews Robert & Tor and great nephew, David will attending our game versus Kidderminster Harriers.
As a mark of respect, we will be holding a minutes applause ahead of kick-off.
May you rest in peace, Ian.
