THE club can confirm this afternoon that George Horbury has put pen to paper on a new contract to extend his stay with the Magpies ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
George, a 21 year-old, hard-working midfielder, signed permanently for the Magpies back in July 2024.
Having had a spell with the club on loan, where he impressed, Andy Preece then went on to secure his services following his departure from Harrogate Town.
George enjoyed the best season of his career to date in 2024/25, scoring six times from 52 competitive appearances. He now has 69 games to his name in a black and white shirt.
Andy Preece had the following to say regarding George signing on.
"George was in great form last season.
For a young lad playing his first full season he was outstanding.
He has huge potential, so for him to commit to us for another season is a big boost.
It says alot about how we develop players as George is someone who is striving to improve day in day out.
He feels we can get the best out of him as he continues to learn.
George was outstanding in the play off game vs Scunthorpe United showing his ability to shine on the big occasion.”
