THE club can confirm this afternoon that Sam Bird has put pen to paper on a new contract to extend his stay with the Magpies ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Sam, a 22 year-old, versatile defender, signed for the club in July 2024 having initially impressed whilst on trial.
Birdy has made 11 competitive appearances for the club to date, largely in the heart of our defence or out at right-back.
Possessing a lethal long-throw, Birdy has has previously played at Fleetwood Town, Stockport County and Stirling Albion.
Sam spent the back end of the 2024/25 campaign at Widnes, who would eventually go on to lift the title in their respective division.
Andy Preece had the following to say regarding Sam signing on.
"Sam has had a good first season and finished it with a winners medal on loan at Widnes.
He will be looking to kick on again next season.
Sam has the potential to be pushing for more starts this season and will be an important part of the squad."
