CONFIRMATION this afternoon that Lewis Salmon has signed for the football club, becoming Andy Preece's second summer signing ahead of the 2026/27 campaign,

Lewis, a 24-year old striker, recently departed from Alfreton Town, where he made 125 appearances, scoring 32 and assisting 10.

Lewis began his career with Altrincham, where loan spells with Trafford and Stalybridge Celtic followed. He had real success in the early part of his career, rising to the top of the Northern Premier League North-West Division scoring charts.

His big break then came in July 2021, signing for Premier League side, Nottingham Forest.

Lewis gained invaluable experience, training with Forest's first team, but, after two years, made a permanent move to Alfreton Town.

He made an immediate impact in Derbyshire, scoring 13 goals in the 2024/25 campaign, helping the Reds get into the playoffs. In 2025/26, Lewis made 31 (+13 sub) appearances, scoring seven times.

Manager Andy Preece had the following to say having gotten this deal done.

"Lewis was a player we looked at when he was developing at Nottingham Forest.

We have kept an eye on his development over the past few years.

He has proved over the last couple of years that he's a top striker at this level.

I like his tenacity desire and his will to win. The key is, he's still improving, the kind of player we've done well with previously.

Lewis made no secret of wanting to sign for us for that reason.

He's not played as an out and out striker and still produced good numbers, which is another big positive."

We hope you will join us in wishing Lewis all the very best on this new chapter of his footballing career, with us.

Welcome to Chorley, Lewis!
