IT was derby day delight as Chorley ran away with all three points thanks to the brilliance of Mark Ellis, Scott Wilson and Mike Calveley, who headed home the goals to see the Magpies go away with a statement, 4-1 win against Southport on Bank Holiday Monday.
It was a slow start to the game, with the Magpies and Southport just trying to find their feet in the early stages.
The Magpies took until the 20th minute to find the opening goal of the game, with Mark Ellis rising highest to meet Adam Blakeman's pinpoint cross from the right.

Southport looked to apply pressure in response and a freekick on the half-hour mark saw Urwin forced into a smart save to deny Danny Lloyd.
Just before half-time, Blakeman put in another dangerous ball into the box, this time from a corner, where Mike Calveley got up highest to bag Chorley's second.
However, the Magpies could not hold onto their two-goal advantage before half-time. Southport replied instantly from the goal after a hopeful ball from Lloyd found Jamie Proctor and he slotted the ball under Urwin.
Andy Preece’s side started the second-half better than the first. With the Magpies threatening from the off, it took just six minutes for Chorley to extend their lead back to two.
That same partnership in the first-half continued after the restart when a brilliant Blakeman cross from a corner saw Ellis rise above the rest again to make it 3-1.
After all his brilliance going forward, Blakeman was forced to stop a clear goal for the visitors after Carver cut through the defence and took it around Urwin, the full-back, was there to clear it off the line with a brilliant slide tackle.
Just after the hour mark, Ellis found himself on a hat trick after another set piece cross from Blakeman landed on the head of the veteran centre-back, and it agonisingly hit the post.
The final kick of the game capped off an excellent afternoon for the Magpies, Blakeman's freekick was delivered into the box, and Scott Wilson rose well to head it home and make it four goals and four assists for Blakeman.
