The Magpies continued their strong start to the 2024/25 pre-season with an emphatic 1-7 win away at Alicante City on Friday night.

Chorley came out of the box quickly and were dominant on the front-foot in attack right from the first whistle. Jack Sampson nodded home the opening goal after 28 minutes, rounding off an excellent move from Adam Henley's cross after Tom Carr hit the upright.

Jack Rice then stepped up and converted from the spot barely minutes later, albeit, via the post, a well-struck penalty all the same.

The referee to everybody's surprise, blew up for the interval after 40 minutes but it didn't take long to continue the goal-scoring form long after the restart, Momodou Touray finding the far-corner past Ollie Green, who was in goal for the hosts.

Touray then doubled his tally for the evening, another goal from 12-yards, sending Green the wrong way.

Andy Preece's side continued to be prolific in attack and next to get in on the act was Liam Birchall, the youngster continuing to impress in pre-season with a brilliantly placed shot into the corner to make it 0-5.

Harrison Kay and Tom Carr made it six and seven before Alicante City fired home an absolute rocket from 25-yards to see it finish 1-7 on the night.

UP NEXT: We host Wigan Athletic, next Friday at the Grant Store Victory Park Stadium.
