CHORLEY provided a ruthless display to see off Southport by three goals to nil at the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Magpies came out of the blocks quickly in tricky conditions, early signs of attacking intent shown through Adam Blakeman who saw his shot saved by Chris Renshaw.
Scott Wilson had the first real chance of the afternoon for the Magpies, on the half-volley from a Blakeman free-kick but couldn't quite direct his shot at goal.
Chorley continued to kick on throughout the first-half but were held level at the break, the game goalless after 45 minutes.
Andy Preece's side came out after the restart in much the same fashion as the opening half and were eventually rewarded for their dominance after 54 minutes, JUSTIN JOHNSON jinking inside, beating two defenders before slotting it past Renshaw to put the Magpies infront.

The Magpies continued to dominate proceedings while Jim Bentley's side struggled to create any real chances of note as the rain continued to come down at a steady pace.
Chorley then got their second goal and it could only have gone to one man, JACK SAMPSON rifling the ball home into the roof of the net past Renshaw to double the Magpies' advantage with 13 minutes left to go.
George Horbury came on as a late substitute and made an instant impact, drawing a foul inside the area and referee William Davis was left with no choice but to point to the spot.
CARLTON UBAEZUONU then made no mistake from 12-yards, sending Renshaw the wrong way to give the Magpies all three points on what was a special day for many reasons.
