CHORLEY grabbed a thoroughly deserved win on Saturday afternoon back at home in the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium, winning by two-goals-to-nil thanks to goals from Mike Calveley and Justin Johnson.
The Magpies got off to the best possible start in the opening exchanges, Mike Calveley tapping home after Peter Crook parried out Justin Johnson's initial shot into his path.
Andy Preece's side very nearly got a second goal only minutes later, an excellent run by Jack Moore followed by a cross towards Johnson was very nearly put away after Jack Sampson backheeled it towards Ollie Shenton inside the six-yard-box.
"Today was about getting the three points and I thought the performance matched that as well, I thought we reacted really well from Tuesday night - not getting a result, but we're bang in the mix now as we have been of late, great to be back to winning ways at home as well." - Chris Anderson
Peterborough Sports to their credit did look to get back into it and Matt Urwin was brought into action mid-way through the first-half, coming out quickly to deny player-manager Michael Gash a route through to goal.
Chorley then had a chance to double their advantage before the break from the penalty spot, Johnson taken down inside the area on the right and the former then made no mistake in firing it home from 12-yards past Crook in goal.
Much of the second-half passed with very little chances for either side, alhough the Magpies probably came the closer of the two teams to getting another goal - David Moyo very nearly carving up the third Chorley goal but his cut-back couldn't find a teammate inside the box and that was that on the day.
