THE Magpies are on the road again, visiting Derbyshire to take on play-off rivals Buxton.
Chorley last faced Buxton in February, which saw Andy Preece's side take all three points thanks to Mark Ellis and Mike Calveley contributing to the goals as well as an own goal from True Grant direct from an Adam Blakeman corner.
The Opponents
Buxton have been on a good run lately, with one defeat in their last five games. The Bucks will certainly be feeling confident heading into this one.
Following their comfortable 3-0 victory against Scarborough Athletic, John McGrath and his players will be looking to do the same again, this time against the Magpies.
Tommy Elliot and Luke Brennan are Buxton's top goalscorers, with both on an impressive ten.
Josh Popoola, who spent time on loan with the Magpies last season and Elliot are joint on the creative front, with the pair both on eight assists for the campaign.
Elliot will no doubt be the one to watch this Friday, so Chorley will have to be at there best to keep the winger quiet.
The Manager
John McGrath is the manager and has only been in charge since May of this year after being in charge of Mickleover Sports.
The former Ireland under-21s international only recently entered management after retiring from playing in the 2022/23 season.
Having come through the Aston Villa academy, McGrath played for clubs such as Doncaster Rovers, Shrewsbury Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Tamworth, Burton Albion, and others.
So far this season, the 44-year-old is doing a fine job securing the Bucks in ninth with a chance of the play-offs.
As of last season, when Buxton finished 14th, it's impressive to see the work that the Irishman and his staff have been able to do so far since the club transitioned into a full-time outfit this season.
