FOR the first time in 2026, Chorley are back in action in the National League North this Saturday, where they’ll make the short journey over to take on Chester at the Deva Stadium.

Andy Preece’s side haven’t played since December 30, 2025, a 2-1 home win against Marine, with their game against Leamington postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Saturday’s hosts come into this game having lost 1-0 away at Scarborough Athletic last weekend, Kieran Weledji’s goal from a set-piece the difference between the two sides in tough conditions at Bridlington.

Last Time Out

Harry Ibbitson was the hero for the Magpies last time out, grabbing the match-winner with serious tenacity after Adam Thomas had initially pegged back Mike Calveley’s opening goal, a thumping header which went in off the crossbar.

Opposition Focus

The Seals currently sit 13th in National League North, with 33 points from 25 games - level on points with the Magpies, worse off by means of goal difference, albeit, having played a game more than Andy Preece’s side.

Their last game in the league was a 1-0 defeat away at Scarborough Athletic.

Chester are led by their manager Calum McIntyre.

Their squad includes ample new signings for this term, including striker Pat Jones. Chester signed experienced full-back, Michael Kelly, this week on loan from National League side Boston United.

Head-to-Head

Our last outing against Chester was a 4-0 home win back in August 2025, the Magpies’ first home game of the campaign. The visitors on that day were hampered early on by Jack Bainbridge’s early sending off.
