PREVIEW: Ashton United
Published on  Updated on

OUR second to last pre-season friendly takes place this Saturday, as we make the short journey over to take on Ashton United at noon.

The hosts had a fruitful campaign last season, though ultimately fell short of the playoff places as they fell to a 1-3 defeat at home to Marine on the Northern Premier League, Premier Division, final day to finish up the campaign in seventh place.

Ashton's last pre-season fixture ended up in a well-earned 2-0 win at home against Vanarama National League side, FC Halifax Town.

Steve Cunningham remains at the helm, too. Steve has a wealth of experience within the non-league pyramid, having previously managed at Colne, Curzon Ashton and Buxton.

A word from Preecy

"A different kind of test to come, this Saturday against Ashton United. Steve had a great season as manager last time around and they'll be looking to build on that. I had the chance to watch a few of their games towards the end of the previous campaign, obviously Warren (Clarke) was there then, and they looked good."
