Matthew Swift set for an almighty fundraising run

MATTHEW Swift, our Head of Data and Analytics who also coaches with the first team and the under-16 team, is set to take on what could be a potentially huge fundraising run on the Magpies' first away outing of the 2025/26 campaign.

Setting off from Victory Park, Matthew will embark on a trip that is currently destination unknown. Why?

Matthew will be running to the Magpies' first away fixture of the season in National League North.

This could be a relatively short trip to local rivals Southport, or as far as the newly-promoted Merthyr Town!

Fixtures are expected to released in July, where Matthew will learn of his fate.

If the run ends up being more than 30 miles, Matthew will spread it over several days, residing in tents or hotels; at his own expense (none of the money raised will go towards these personal costs).

What is Matthew raising money towards?

"As our youth players progress and edge closer to senior football, we want to give them the best chance of breaking into the first team.

The goal is to raise money to purchase GPS devices for our squad.

These devices will allow them to track their match performance and compare their data with players at higher levels; giving them something tangible to aim for.

We are also hoping to use funds to provide our squads with new training gear, match kits and additional match-day necessities (water, gels, etc)."
