AFTER a season spanning over 43 appearances in the Black and White stripes, Chorley FC can confirm that Jack Hazlehurst has joined League One side, Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee.
Jack signed for the club back in June 2023 having made the step up from City of Liverpool FC, scoring 12 times across the 2023/24 campaign.
The 25-year old provided many memorable moments over the course of the season, the "Magpie Messi" won the manager's player of the season at the conclusion of the campaign in May.
Manager, Andy Preece, wanted to provide the following message upon Jack's departure:
”What a great move for Jack I’m so pleased for him.
It’s always disappointing when you lose lads who are key players and also top lads but that’s tempered as it’s such a great move.
A near six-figure transfer fee a club record, and Jack now is a League One footballer.
I was told he’s a 10, you have to play with ten men, he’s a luxury all which he turned out to be the exact opposite.
Ando spoke to him told him what would be expected and he said he was up for it.
I believe we can change a players mentality so if they’ve the ability we can help players achieve more than they thought they were capable of.
Ultimately it’s down to the player and Jack embraced everything we asked. He’s done the hard work we’ve just guided him.
From day one in training Jack has shown his ability and tremendous hunger to work hard and do well.
In one season he’s lit up the ground with his performances and lived up to the ‘Magpie Messi’ catchphrase.
I’m not sure any club develops players as quickly as we do so credit to our recruitment and environment we’ve created.
Good luck Jack, you got what you deserved now kick on again.
Jack also wanted to issue the following statement to the club and our supporters:
"Dear Magpies,
I’d like to thank all fans and everyone associated at the club for your support this past year.
During my time at Chorley FC I feel I have improved so much as a player thanks to the management team and the group of lads I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the pitch with.
I’ve been given an opportunity to play full time football which is too good of an offer to turn down.
I'd like to wish everyone at the club nothing but the best for the future. Up the Magpies!"
Everybody at Chorley FC would like to wish Jack all the very best at Burton Albion and for the future. Thank you, Jack!
