THE Chorley FC Community Foundation is proud to be launching a brand-new project aimed at supporting veterans in our local area. The Veterans Project is all about bringing people together, staying active, and looking after both physical and mental wellbeing.
A key part of the project is the creation of a veterans 11-a-side football team. Open to all ages, the team will offer regular training sessions and matches – perfect for anyone looking to get back into the game, stay fit, and be part of a team again.
But it’s not just about football. The project also includes physical health and wellbeing sessions, designed to help veterans improve their fitness, build confidence, and take care of their health in a supportive environment.
To keep the community spirit strong, the foundation are also launching a monthly breakfast club. It’s a great chance to catch up, meet new people, and enjoy a proper breakfast together in a relaxed setting.
On top of that, they'll be hosting quarterly social events. These events are all about having fun, making connections, and reducing the feeling of isolation that many veterans can face.
Finally, the project will run health workshops throughout the year, covering topics like mental health, nutrition, injury prevention, and how to access local services and support.
The Veterans Project is here to support those who’ve served – not just by offering activities, but by creating a real sense of community. Whether you're into football, looking for ways to stay healthy, or just want to connect with others who’ve had similar experiences, there’s something here for you.
A meeting will take place on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, June 28 from 12-2pm in our Victory Park Social Club for all veterans to attend and discuss matters further.
