A word from Darren Jenkinson regarding our Christmas Day opening

FOLLOWING our announcement and the incredible response that followed , we wanted to share a few words from the Chair of our Community Foundation regarding our Christmas Day opening.

“I wanted to share a quick update following yesterday’s announcement, because the response has honestly humbled us..

We’ve been working on this quietly for quite a while, and I can’t thank Chorley Council, especially Aaron Beaver and Cllr Ross Green, and CAF Community Fund enough for helping us get everything fully funded. Because of their support, we genuinely don’t need any donations to run the day itself.

The food, the drinks, the staff, the venue…it’s all covered.

But since the post went out yesterday, I’ve already started to receive messages saying things like, “I can’t be there on the day, but please let me help somehow.” And honestly, that says everything about this community.

So here’s the honest answer:

We don’t need the money, the event is sorted.

But if someone really wants to chip in, we’ll use it to add a little extra to the day. Maybe a small gift or treat for everyone who comes along, just something personal to take home and remind them that Chorley cares.

And I have to say this… the entire Chorley FC team, staff and volunteers, have offered to give up part of their own Christmas Day to make this happen. I couldn’t be prouder of them.

This is community in action.

This is what makes Chorley special.
