CHORLEY were desperately unlucky not to come away with three points in their 2-2 draw away to Radcliffe FC.
A Lucas Weaver double secured the Magpies a point on the road at the Neuven Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Chorley controlled the opening stages of the game and their domination paid off in the 20th minute when a deep cross by Harvey Smith was headed away and fell to Weaver on the edge of the box, who finished past Mateusz Hewelt to get his first goal for the Magpies.
The Magpies had numerous other chances in the first half but thanks to Hewelt’s intervention on a couple of occasions Andy Preece’s side only went in one goal to the good at the interval.
In the second half however, The Boro started off strongly and after 10 minutes had themselves a penalty when Mark Ellis was adjudged to have brought down Jordan Hulme in the box, a controversial decision.
Rio Clegg stepped up and placed his penalty well into the bottom corner, albeit off the post to bring the hosts level.
Radcliffe then got their second in the 66th minute, a Michael Afuye deep cross was headed back across goal by Callum McFadzean and then headed home by Hulme.
Chorley had to wait until injury time to get their equaliser, and Scott Wilson slipped in Weaver who finished excellently into bottom corner from outside the box.
Elsewhere though a chance for Mike Calveley was blocked excellently by Olly Thornley to prevent a certain goal and Smith missed a header from point blank range after a brilliant corner from Jack Moore.
Chorley will look to build momentum from today’s performance as they prepare for next weekend’s FA Trophy tie at home to Worksop Town.
