CHORLEY were ruthless in their 4-0 dismantling of nine-man King’s Lynn Town on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon.
The game could not have got off to a worse start for the visitors, two minutes in, Emmanuel Maja was sent off for a late lunge on Adam Henley and Lynn found themselves down to ten.
Nine minutes later Andy Preece’s side made their man advantage count, as a ball was fizzed into the box by Adam Blakeman and headed back across goal by Mark Ellis, Tom Carr missed the ball with his effort, but Mike Calveley thumped his home.
There was not much action that took place for the remainder of the first-half, a free-kick from Craig Hewitt was saved by Louis Chadwick and a Blakeman free-kick was met by Ellis who fired his effort just wide of the post.
Early in the second-half however, King’s Lynn found themselves down to nine men, Carr got there first to a long ball and Chadwick in goal collided with the striker leaving the referee with no choice but to send the keeper off, Chorley now with a two-man advantage looked to pile on the pressure.
Within eight minutes, that pressure paid off, a deep cross by Joe Nolan was spilt by substitute keeper Paul Jones and Hewitt finished into an empty net to claim his second goal in as many games.
Chorley, who continued to dominate proceedings, eventually got their third goal of the afternoon, a great pass by substitute Luke Summerfield found Henley who took the ball around the keeper, kept his composure and clipped the ball across goal to another substitute in Harry Ibbitson who headed home for his first goal for the club.
Andy Preece's side put the icing on the cake in added time to get their fourth goal, a great cross by substitute Milan Lalkovic picked out Ellis perfectly in the box, and he made no mistake burying his header straight into the corner.
The games keep coming for Andy Preece’s men who will now turn their attention to Saturday’s game away to Leamington.
