CHORLEY were knocked out of the Isuzu FA Trophy in the second round as Worksop Town completed a late comeback to win 2-3 at Victory Park.
Milan Lalkovic scored either side of half-time for the Magpies but substitute Chae Whitman-Brown struck a late winner for the Tigers.
Andy Preece gave Preston North End loanee Max Wilson his debut and he was immediately involved in creating an opportunity for Tom Walker, which was headed over the bar.
Both teams started brightly with chances at either end before the scoring was opened by the hosts after 31 minutes through Lalkovic.
Matt Urwin found the Slovakian out on the left wing and the number 20 moved inside before smashing a stunning shot over Tommy Taylor into the top corner.
However, the visitors equalised within a minute as Scott Wilson unluckily put Aleksandrs Starcenko’s cross into his own net.
Both Wilson's had efforts at Taylor before half-time but were denied as the game remained end-to-end.
The Magpies made an excellent start to the second half as Lalkovic doubled his and his side’s tally in the 57th minute.
Tom Carr was pushed over by Deegan Atherton in the Worksop penalty box but squandered the chance to give the hosts the lead as Taylor saved his spot-kick.
Fortunately, Lalkovic met the rebound and finished past the Tigers’ keeper to make it 2-1.
Another penalty shout on Joe Nolan was waved away by referee Jonathan Maskrey before the away side again levelled the score through Luke Waterfall.
As the game came to its end, Worksop then found a winner through Whitman-Brown who converted Lewis Whitham’s cross past Urwin.
The late goal sealed the visitors’ place in the next round of the competition and Chorley will switch their focus back to the Enterprise National League North where they host Bedford Town next Saturday.
