CHORLEY succumbed to a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Curzon Ashton.
A goal in the first half from player-manager Adam Barton was enough for The Nash to take all three points in a game that lacked much quality.
The winner came on 37 minutes when a Ruben Curley corner was swung to the back post, it was headed back across goal and hit on the volley by Barton who found the back of the net from inside of the six-yard box.
The visitors had another two golden chances as well, the first of which occurred just two minutes after the goal, when a poor back pass by Mark Ellis was latched on by Alex Curran, who scampered towards goal but fired his shot straight at Matt Urwin who parried it behind for a corner.
Their second opportunity came in the 58th minute, a header from point blank range by Jimmy Spencer hit Urwin’s shoulder and then on the rebound the striker could not sort his feet out and fired wayward of the target.
As for Andy Preece’s side the closest they came was after a deep cross by Tom Walker, which was headed across goal by Ellis, and cleared away by Charlie Weston just before Scott Wilson could arrive to turn the ball home on the goal line.
The Magpies will now look towards next weekend’s trip to Norfolk to face King’s Lynn Town in their final away game of the season.
