THE Magpies became the first team to keep a league clean sheet at the Bee Arena this season, as they played out a goalless draw with Peterborough Sports.

The opening 45’ was one of very few chances, Dion Sembie-Ferris’s effort caused no real problem for Matt Urwin as he palmed it away. Connor Hall had the Magpies’ best opportunity, a header that went well wide of Pete Crook’s goal.

Both teams came out after the restart with plenty to prove and the Turbines looked livelier early on. Nathan Fox doing his best to try and carve out a chance only to hammer the ball well over.

Mike Calveley forced a save out of Crook off an Adam Blakeman long throw, but that was to be the last real chance on goal for the visitors.

Matt Challoner was sent off with 13 minutes to go after a late tackle on Fox, with several players booked following a coming together after the challenge.

The teams played out the final minutes 10 on 10, with Sports having used all three subs, but the extra space matter little as the game died out into a stalemate.

It’s not a game that will live long in the memory. Defensively we’ve been very good again but we didn’t do enough going forward – Andy Preece
