THE Magpies are now eight away league games unbeaten after claiming a point at Farsley Celtic.

Andy Preece’s men enjoyed the better chances during the opening exchanges, despite Celtic boasting an excellent first half record at home this season.

Joe Nolan was the first Magpie to get a sight of goal, but his effort went wide after a great one-two with Jack Sampson. The latter then shot over off a low Adam Henley cross.

In reply, Farsley had the chance to put a couple of decent set pieces into the Chorley box. The best of which was right on half time when skipper Andy Butler should have done better with an attempt that went wide.

The second half saw the hosts create the better openings, but not before Ollie Shenton shot wide and Sampson headed over for the Magpies.

Carlton Ubaezuonu drove an effort straight at the returning Matt Urwin, who looked sharp despite missing a couple of games through injury. Chorley’s number one then denied Butler off a corner as the pressure mounted.

Bobby Johnson hit a shot over, Adam Clayton headed wide and a final chance in injury time for sub Nat Wallace was repelled by Urwin, preserving another away point for the Magpies ahead of big three-game homestand.

Farsley Dearnley; Scales, Butroid, Johnson, Butler (c), Allan, Clayton, Atkinson, Ubaezuonu, Jessop (Devine, 75′), Parkin (Wallace, 75′). Subs not used: Assenso, Morgan.

Chorley Urwin; Henley, Smith, Wilson, Leather (c), Nolan, Whitehouse, Sampson, Ustabaşı, Shenton, Hall. Subs not used: Blakeman, Johnson, Drench, Scarborough, Kay.

Both teams did very well to stick at it with the conditions the way they were. I’m pleased with the effort and the work rate from us, but maybe at times our quality could have been better – Andy Preece
