THE Magpies played out a low key stalemate at Chester on a glorious Good Friday afternoon at the Deva Stadium, writes Pete Tscherewik.

Billy Whitehouse almost opened the scoring in the opening five minutes but Harry Tyrer was on hand to deny him after he was put through on goal by Jon Ustabaşı.

Ustabaşı had a couple of shots from range, testing Tyrer with one effort, but both sides struggled to create any clear cut chances in the first half. Declan Weeks had the hosts’ first shot at goal after half an hour, firing well over off a quick turnover breakaway.

Chester grew into the game after the restart, but, despite enjoying a decent amount of possession, failed to test Matt Urwin in the Chorley goal.

There were two efforts of note near the end; Jack Sampson headed over the bar for the visitors before home sub Anthony Dudley saw his shot in injury time blocked by Scott Wilson.

A share of the points a fair reflection.
