Chorley travel to City of Liverpool on Wednesday evening for their second game in as many days having drawn 1-1 against Carlisle United the night before.

Andy Preece’s side come into this one after an impressive 1-1 draw against The Blues, Justin Johnson continuing his impressive pre-season form – on the scoresheet once again.

The Magpies have this match and one other remaining for pre-season, Stalybridge Celtic – on the road again this Saturday before taking on Brackley Town at Victory Park for our opening league fixture.

Our passing and our movement was good – a big improvement and defensively strong second-half, Matt (Urwin) hasn’t had a lot to do.” –Andy Preece

City of Liverpool supporters will be particularly familiar with one of the Magpies’ players in Jack Hazelhurst – our new summer recruit is their leading appearance holder (173) and was appropriately nickamed “The Purps’ Messi” during his time there, having scored 58 goals for the club across five years.

The Purps have played six pre-season games so far ahead of their Northern Premier League North West season, which begins in just over two and a half weeks time.

Winstanley Warriors (4-2), Garstang (4-3), Warrington Town (1-2), Cammel Laird (4-1), Squires Gate (4-1) and AFC Knowsley (Unsure).
