WE welcome goalkeeper Matt Gould to the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium on an emergency loan from Altrincham.

The 29-year-old stopper has been signed due to number one Matt Urwin picking up an injury and backup/goalie coach Steve Drench being unavailable for the trip to Blyth Spartans due to work commitments.

A big thank you to Alty for allowing us to have Matt at such short notice. He’s got really good experience and will no doubt help us out in the short period he’ll be with us – Andy Preece

As our superb pictures from Stefan Willoughby show, Matt’s turned out a couple of times against the Magpies in recent seasons. He was the opposition goalie in our Vanarama National League North playoff final win over Spennymoor Town in May 2019 AND again during our FA Cup win over Moors the following October.

More recently Matt has played twice in the National League for Alty this season and was named on the bench for five of New Zealand’s World Cup qualifiers at the start of 2022.

Welcome to the Magpies, Matt.
