ANOTHER midweek away trip faces Chorley as Andy Preece’s side ready themselves for the journey north to Spennymoor Town on Tuesday night.

Their third game away from home in a week, the Magpies will be looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats to AFC Telford United and Bedford Town.

On the other hand, the Moors were brought back down to life with a 4-0 hammering at home to Darlington on Saturday, following two wins in a row.

Last Time Out

The Magpies continued to rack up their road miles in February with the three-hour journey down to Bedfordshire at the weekend, looking to follow up their 1-0 win over the Eagles at Victory Park back in November.

Four changes were made by Andy Preece and his side almost got off to a great start but Owen German seeing his flying half-volley travel wide.

Tom Carr almost got his head to a sharp Harry Ibbitson cross before the hosts took the lead through Josh Castiliogne just before the half-hour mark.

Into the second half, Adam Blakeman forced Nathan Ashmore into tipping his free-kick away from the top corner.

The game was won however in the 70th minute when Carl Mensah converted a rebound from his own shot.

Chorley travelled back to the North West in 15th place and will look to close the gap to the play-offs on Tuesday night.

Opposition Focus

Spennymoor Town have had a goal-filled month so far, with 17 goals coming for or against them in five games so far.

Victories over Leamington and Peterborough Sports preceded the Darlington defeat, which themselves came after a 5-0 loss at AFC Fylde.

They currently sit in 13th in the Enterprise National League North, one point and two places above the Magpies.

Moors are currently managerless, after Graeme Lee left his post on Sunday. Tommy Miller and Matty Dolan have taken temporary charge.

The Moors will be led by veteran striker Glen Taylor, who has 16 goals in 28 games this campaign.

The 35-year-old re-joined the club in 2015 after a short spell three years earlier and has since made over 400 appearances.

Their squad also includes the likes of defenders Olly Dyson and Dan Jones, who joined from Port Vale in the summer, ex-Birmingham City man Mitch Hancox and attacking midfielder Rob Ramshaw.

Head-to-Head

The Magpies and the Moors settled for a point each three months ago as neither side could break the deadlock at a freezing cold Victory Park.

Last season, Chorley did the double over their opponents, winning 2-1 away and 4-0 at home.

An own goal and a Mike Calveley header did the goods for the Magpies on the road in October, whilst in March, goals from Kole Hall, George Horbury, Kristi Montgomery and Momodou Touray sealed a spectacular home win.
