WE’RE back at home this Saturday in what promises to be a huge Vanarama National League North clash, as we take on Scunthorpe United at the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium.

The Magpies ran out 3-1 winners last time against Runcorn Linnets in an FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Replay, thanks to goals from David Moyo, Harvey Smith and Carlton Ubaezounu.

Charlton Ubaezounu and David Moyo celebrate against Runcorn Linnets (David Airey)

“I’m really pleased with how we went about it - we were a lot more positive with the ball in the first-half… what we planned at the start all came together really, but credit to Runcorn - they changed their system and gave it a go, especially in the second-half.” - Andy Preece

Scunthorpe come into this one off the back of a 3-1 defeat in their FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Replay to Brackley Town.

Jimmy Dean’s side were relegated into the National League North this season and are the clear, standout favourites (with the bookmakers) to go on and lift the title for 2023/24.

The Iron have 17 points from their opening eight games which currently sees them sat in second, behind Tamworth (albeit, with a game in hand on them).
