CHORLEY are back on the road this weekend to take on Scarborough Athletic.

The Magpies fell to a defeat away at Oxford City last weekend, but, will be looking to bounce back here..

On the other hand, Jono Greening’s side are battling for a place in the playoffs at this moment in time.

Last Time Out

Goals from Ewan Clark and DJ Sturridge were enough for the Hoops to get the better of the Magpies in a game that lacked many clear-cut chances.

The first for Ross Jenkins’ side came in the 56th minute, when some good play by Sturridge down the right flank allowed him to get some space towards the byline and dink a cross towards the back post, which is where Clark was waiting and he could not miss, heading home from just three yards out.

Their second goal came just three minutes later, Sturridge received the ball on the edge of the box with his back to goal, he hit a shot on the turn and found the top left corner - a spectacular strike.

As for Andy Preece’s side, their best opportunity was in the 66th minute, when in the aftermath of a corner the ball would fall kindly to Warren Clarke in the middle of the box, his shot was hit straight at Max Metcalfe in the Oxford goal who gathered it with relative ease.

Opposition Focus

This Saturday’s hosts Scarborough Athletic come into this game off the back of a 1-2 win away at recently-relegated, Leamington.

Jono Greening’s side have been quietly consistent throughout this campaign, occupying seventh position in the table.

Boro have 17 points from their last ten games; unbeaten in their last six games - albeit four of those have been draws.

Stephen Walker is the hosts’ top-scorer this season, with 17. Walker scored in the reverse fixture early on in the season.

Head-to-Head

Back in August of 2025, it was a 2-2 draw at Victory Park, Walker’s brace cancelling out goals from Adam Blakeman and Tom Carr.

This season, of course, we’ll play at the Mounting Systems Stadium in Bridlington, but, the last time we faced-off away from home the Magpies came out on top.

A 2-3 win at the Flamingo Land Stadium, thanks to two second-half goals from Mike Calveley and Mark Ellis.
