CHORLEY'S pre-season preparations continued on Tuesday night with a narrow 1–0 defeat to Euxton Villa, as the hosts capped off proceedings with an 86th minute stunner from Joel Darley.
The Magpies went into the game looking to build on their 0-1 win at the weekend against Squires Gate, with a mix of senior players and emerging youth prospects in the side, Andy Preece’s men dominated spells of possession but ultimately lacked a clinical edge in front of goal.
Chorley had a couple of early shots from Tom Carr and Milan Lalkovic blocked away by the hosts, before Musa Jobe went close, forcing a save from Oli Lombard in goal.
Andy Preece's side continued to push for the opener, 'Trialist C', next to test the Villa' stopper, before 'Trialist A' fired a bullet header against the crossbar from a corner.
Euxton came out after the restart looking to make their own mark on the game, and quickly went close themselves, Raj Uppal hitting the crossbar.
Chances then came at a premium for the majority of the second-half for both sides, before the hosts eventually broke the deadlock on 86 minutes, Joel Darley with an excellent curling effort from distance that beat Ollie Green in goal.
The Magpies now turn their attention to this Saturday, where they'll face-off against League One side, Wigan Athletic at the Grant Store Victory Park Stadium.
