WE are taking a look at the new sides entering the Enterprise National League North for the 2026/27 season. Up next, we are headed nearly 40 miles north to the west coast.

Morecambe will face Chorley for the first time in a competitive encounter this season.

Known as The Shrimps, Morecambe are led by new manager Adam Lakeman, going into this season after he left his post at Halifax Town at the end of the last campaign, replacing Jim Bentley, who could not keep the side in the National League.

The past few seasons have been rather negative for the club, with three consecutive relegations, when just four years ago, The Shrimps held the accolade of never being relegated at all in their existence.

Last season saw Morecambe return to the National League for the first time since 2007; with the club having a successful takeover in August last year, they faced an uphill battle to avoid relegation under Ashvir Singh Johal, who would be sacked in January and replaced by Jim Bentley – however, the club could not avoid relegation to the National League North.

It will be the first time that the Magpie Faithful will be visiting the Mazuma Stadium for a competitive game in this campaign.
