Chorley FC Youth: A 2024/25 Season Review
Published on  Updated on

THIS week, the club caught up with our Head of Youth Football, Gary Donoghue to reflect on our youth sides' season and to give an insight on how each individual age group fared in 2024/25.

From the Under-12s to the Under-18s and our Chorley FC U18 Women, every team has shown remarkable progress, resilience, and commitment across the campaign.

Youth Teams Overview:

  • Under-12s
In their first full season, the U12s made a strong impression, securing top-half finishes in both the Junior Premier League (Saturday) and the East Lancs League (Sunday). They also enjoyed a spirited run to the quarter-finals of the LFA Cup – a fantastic foundation to build upon.

  • Under-13s
Despite a challenging year in terms of results, the U13s demonstrated unwavering spirit and determination. Their perseverance and work ethic have laid the groundwork for future success, proving that progress isn’t always measured in points.

  • Under-14s
An outstanding season for the U14s, who claimed the NW JPL Top Division Title for the second year running, lifted the National Knockout Cup and reached the final of another major national tournament.

  • Under-15s
A season of real improvement saw the U15s turn the tide, climbing into the top-half of their division. Their progress this year is a testament to their development and growing confidence.

  • Under-16s
The U16s delivered a strong JPL campaign with a particularly impressive finish, capped off by victory in the Lancashire County Cup – a significant achievement and a fitting reward for their efforts.

  • Under-18s
A great campaign for the oldest age group, finishing fifth in the highly competitive NWYA League and triumphing in the League Cup Final – securing the trophy in a tense penalty shootout against Macclesfield.

Chorley Women U18:

The Chorley Women U18s have had a season to remember, completing a sensational quadruple-winning campaign. Capping off their year in style, they lifted the Chairman’s Cup recently. Their achievements are a shining example of what talent, teamwork, and tireless dedication can produce.

Looking Ahead:

With trials already underway for the 2025/26 season (U11–U18), excitement is building for the next chapter. New U11 and U17 teams will be welcomed into the Chorley FC Youth family, and the Women’s U18 side is now making the exciting step up to open-age football; with new players encouraged to get involved.
