AFTER two spells, amassing 165 appearances and 14 goals, it is with great sadness that the decision has been made mutually and amicably between both parties for Billy Whitehouse to leave the football club due to ongoing struggles with travelling commitments.
Billy made eight appearances for the Magpies this season, having re-signed for the club after initially returning last season following his departure from Alfreton Town, but has found life tough in terms of relocating, his game-time and ultimately, his travelling on a day to day basis around his work away from his duties with Chorley FC.
Andy Preece had the following to say in light of the news.
"Billy is leaving us to look for an opportunity a bit closer to his home and work.
Training times are difficult and affect his travel time. The travelling has been biggest difficulty which is something we'd discussed in the summer.
We agreed to review it month by month and we've reluctantly agreed between us this was the right decision.
Billy has been brilliant for me, one of those lads you would do anything for. We have had some great times together.
After some hard graft he even got the captains armband a couple of times. Popular on and off the pitch, he will certainly be missed; he will always be welcome back here and we will always be here to look after him as he looks to find his next club."
Billy wished to share the following message to supporters upon his departure.
"Two spells here which I have loved. Chorley is a special club and I have met some of the best people in my career to date here.
Unfortunately it’s time for me to move on I’m at a stage in my career where I want to minimise travel and play a bit more regularly with the team doing so well it’s been difficult to break in.
I wish the club the staff and players nothing but the best moving forward."
From everybody at Chorley FC, once again, we'd like to wish Billy all the very best for the future in whatever comes next!
A special thank you to Crowberry Consulting and Energy who have sponsored Billy this season.
