Chally moves on

WE’RE saying goodbye to right back Matt Challoner who’s leaving the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium after a second spell with the Magpies.

The 29-year-old originally joined us in 2016 from Southport, returned last summer after two seasons away, and made a total 199 appearances. He’ll always be remembered as being part of our 2019 National League North playoff winning side.

Unfortunately, Chally can’t commit to next season due to work commitments at Burnley, where he now has a lead role. It’s a fantastic opportunity for him as he continues to progress his career at the highest level.

He’ll keep playing, too, but he can’t commit to training and playing every week. He slotted back in really well last season and was playing well until injury cut his season short. It’s frustrating that he’s stuck on 199 appearances, but you never know what might happen in the future. He’s been a big part of our recent history and we wish he all the best  Andy Preece

Thanks for all your efforts while with the Magpies, Chally. Best of luck for the future.
