REPORT: Oxford City 4-0 Chorley

The Magpies were well-beaten at Oxford City on Saturday...
CHORLEY suffered defeat on the road on Saturday as Oxford City claimed all three points at the MGroup Stadium.
The hosts struck twice in each half, with Tyrone Marsh finding the net twice alongside goals from Scott Pollock and Briar Bateman.
With injuries to Adam Blakeman and Billy Whitehouse forcing changes to the starting line-up, Chorley made a positive start and went close inside the opening minute when Mike Calveley fired narrowly wide.
Both sides began at a high tempo, with Oxford gradually growing into the contest. Marsh thought he had opened the scoring, but his effort was ruled out for offside before Li-Bau Stowell produced a smart save to deny Josh Ashby.
The hosts eventually broke the deadlock on 32 minutes when Marsh reacted quickest after Stowell had dealt with Bateman’s cross to turn the loose ball home.
Chorley almost responded before the interval, Steven Bala striking the post, but Oxford doubled their advantage moments later when Pollock finished a swift counter-attack following a Chorley corner.
The hosts added a third shortly after the restart when Bateman’s long-range effort took a deflection on its way past Stowell.
Bala was denied by a sharp save from Maxted as Chorley looked to find a way back into the contest, before Marsh completed the scoring from close range to register his second of the afternoon.
The Magpies will now turn their attention to Tuesday night, when Darlington visit Victory Park.
