REPORT: Chorley 5-2 Darlington

The Magpies dominated against Darlington on Tuesday evening...
CHORLEY were dominant in their 5-2 victory against Darlington.
Goals from Elliot Taylor, Warren Clarke, Jack Sampson and a Jack Hazlehurst brace helped the Magpies soar to all three points, despite a second half double by Aidan Rutledge.
Chorley’s first came in the eighth minute, a great diagonal ball by Adam Blakeman found Max Wilson, the ball was worked to Callum Rowe whose left footed cross was met by Taylor with a glancing header finding the back of the net.
Andy Preece’s side doubled their lead in the 41st minute, a great cross by Wilson found Clarke at the far post and his diving header left the keeper with no chance.
The Magpies’ third came in spectacular fashion in first half stoppage time, following a long throw which wasn’t cleared properly by Darlington, the ball came to Hazlehurst who chested the ball up into the air and unleashed a rocket of a volley on his left foot into the top left corner.
The men in black and white did not step their foot off the gas going into the second half, and got their fourth in the 55th minute, a free kick by Jack Moore on halfway set Hazlehurst through and he hit a first-time effort brilliantly across goal into the far bottom corner.
Darlington got a goal back 25 minutes later, a corner by Jonah Lowes was met by substitute Rutledge and he headed home.
The Quakers’ second came five minutes later, a good cross by Paddy McLaughlin met the header of Rutledge once again and he got his second of the game.
The three points were secured seven minutes later, when a misplaced clearance by Darlington inadvertently played the returning Sampson through on goal, and he finished excellently into the near bottom corner.
Chorley could have had another, when Hazlehurst had a penalty kick in the 43rd minute, but his strike was saved well by Bobby Jones towards the bottom left corner.
The visitors found themselves down to ten men in injury time in the second half, after Rutledge picked up two yellow cards within the space of a minute of each other.
The Magpies will now turn their attention to Saturday’s away trip against King’s Lynn Town.
