CHORLEY FC are absolutely delighted to announce that Tom Walker has put pen to paper to become the Magpies' first new recruit of the summer.
Tom, aged 29, joins Chorley following his departure from fellow National League North outfit, Radcliffe FC. A versatile attacking player who can play out wide on both flanks or through the middle, he scored six goals and assisted three in 2024/25.
In terms of his career path to date, Tom started out his career at Bolton Wanderers, coming through the youth ranks, scoring his first senior goal back in January 2015.
Notable other clubs across Tom's footballing CV include Salford City, Stockport County and AFC Fylde. He brings a wealth of EFL and non-league experience to the table and reiterated in interview that he wanted to stay at National League North level despite having offers from clubs elsewhere.
Last season, Tom played in both games against the Magpies for the Boro, assisting Rick Smith's headed goal, and has played at Victory Park on a number of occasions over the years.
Manager, Andy Preece, had the following to say upon completion of the deal.
“Tom is an experienced player at this level and above.
He has always been part of successful teams so when he rang me about the opportunity to come to Chorley it showed the progress we are making.”
He's very ambitious, wants to play at the highest level and that was a real positive when we were talking.
Tom could have stepped down a level but at 29 he's in the peak years of his career.
Quick, strong, direct and a great left foot he's an exciting signing for us.
It's very rare we sign anyone with the experience he has and still at the peak of his career.
It's credit to him for making the deal happen we are lucky to have him on board.”
Tom will wear the number 17 for the Magpies.
