CHORLEY were unfortunate in a 1-1 draw against King’s Lynn Town in their final away game of the season.

A first-half goal by stand-in captain Mike Calveley was cancelled out in the 95th minute by Carlton Ubaezuonu as elsewhere the hosts found themselves down to ten after a second yellow card for Ross Crane.

The Magpies broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute when a great Max Wilson cross met the head of Calveley who arrived at the back post and headed excellently into the bottom corner.

Paul Caddis’ side found themselves down a man in the 78th minute, when Crane cynically brought down Calveley on a Chorley counter-attack – he received a second yellow card for his actions.

The Linnets though got an equaliser late on, when following a long ball forward by goalkeeper Aaron Chapman, Adam Marriott found a pocket of space in the box and fired a low cross across goal, which is where Ubaezuonu stood and directed the ball past Steven Drench to draw the sides level.

Andy Preece’s side had various opportunities to get a second – the best of which fell to Max Wilson, who upon being slipped in behind by Warren Clarke fired his shot first time inside the penalty area, but unluckily for the Magpies it hit the side netting.

Chorley will now look towards their final game of the season next Saturday against Worksop Town, back at the Grant Store Victory Park Stadium.
