THE first new signing of 2023/24 got in amongst it last night at an optional workout session in Bamber Bridge.

Carlton Ubaezuonu, who joined the Magpies from fellow Vanarama National League North outfit Farsley Celtic last week, got to meet some of his new teammates as Andy Preece put a few players through their paces on a sunny Lancashire evening.

It’s great to have Carlton on board as our first new signing of the summer. He had an excellent 2022/23 season with Farsley and we saw first hand how dangerous he can be in front of goal. He gives good balance to the team, is very adaptable and at 25 he still has a lot of potential, so it’s great he chose Chorley over other clubs – Andy Preece

Until last season the 25-year-old left footer had spent his entire career in the Republic of Ireland – starting with Dundalk, before stops at Galway United, Longford Town & Athlone Town. Our new man was also selected to represent Ireland Universities in 2018.

On joining division rivals Farsley last September, Carlton made nearly 40 appearances in all competitions as the Celts reached the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy while also avoiding relegation on the final day of the season.

Welcome to Chorley FC, Carlton.
