WE’RE off on our travels, this Saturday to take on Gloucester City down south in the Vanarama National League North.

The Magpies were defeated on penalties last time out against Bamber Bridge in midweek in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy - Gabriel Rogers getting on the scoresheet for Andy Preece’s side.

“It was a decent game, both teams were fully committed - there goal is a penalty… a bit harsh, we got ourselves back into the game and had four or five chances and credit to their keeper who was excellent tonight.” - Andy Preece

Gloucester City have had a far from straight forward start to the season with Tim Flowers departing already having been appointed to replace Steven King in the summer.

Our hosts are currently in the bottom four in the table with eight points from their opening ten games, their only win so far of the campaign was at the TigerTurf Stadium against newly-promoted Rushall Olympic.

The previous meeting between the two sides was the infamous 4-3 final day defeat that saw the Magpies slip out of the playoffs.
