COMPETITIVE football is back!
The 2020/21 Junior Premier League season gets going tomorrow and our sides are right into the thick of the action ahead of another jam packed campaign.
It’s been a really intense summer with lots of people working hard behind the scenes to get everything up and running and in place for the season to start this weekend. It’s also been an exciting summer on the pitch with our youth sides busy with training and friendly matches. There’s been so much positive work going on, which is a credit to the coaches, players and parents.
We’ve added a number of new coaches, including in the areas of physio/rehab, strength/conditioning and performance analysis; I am confident we now have a team in place in an environment where we can all flourish, with a foundation that will enhance our Player Pathway.
From a personal standpoint I’d like to thank everyone at the Football Club for making me feel welcome. Ken, Terry, Graham, Jon, Vermo, Preecy, all the support staff including the media team and volunteers. The future is very bright at Chorley and I can’t wait for the season to begin – Irfan Kawri (Head of Youth Development & Coaching)
Our under-14s will be competing in the JPL One North West division alongside AFC Fylde, Atherton Collieries, Oldham Athletic, PFA All-Stars (Stockport), Rochdale, Team Elite & Vauxhall Motors.
We’re all very excited for the start of the new JPL season. We face some tough opponents but we’ve recruited well and have a group of players who have performed to a high standard throughout pre-season. As long as we are confident in the style of football we play, I can see this being a very successful season – Aurie de Carteret (Head Coach)
Squad: Alex Keeling, Bobby Matthews, Brad Kernahan, Charlie Crook, Connor Edwards, Eddie Clitherow, Harry-Joe Taylor, James McManus, Josh Wilson, Lewis Elliott, Matthew Fairbrother, Matthew Ellison, Michael Bartley, Oliver Lightfoot, Ryan Smith & Trae Sangwa.
This year’s under-15s will also be competing in the JPL One North West division, where they’ll face AFC Fylde, Herald, Oldham Athletic, PFA All-Stars (Stockport), Rochdale, Team Elite & Tranmere Rovers.
We are all very excited about the season ahead. We’re a completely new squad of players who are really eager to develop and prove their abilities in the JPL. As a coaching staff we’re focused on developing our lads both as footballers and individuals by using this amazing sport as a tool for their personal growth. The only goal we’ve set is to steadily develop throughout the season; the competitive nature of the JPL will certainly help us shape strong players who can potentially be a part of Chorley’s first team in a few years – Lorenzo Perretti (Head Coach)
Squad: Harrison Perryn, Josai Richards, Kayne Stewart, Emmanuel Gazele, Edan Keey-Stevens, Thomas Bluck, Charlie Mechan, Ashley Derby, Tom Taylor, Joshua Dunderdale, Lewis Eccles, Muhammad ad Ayman Suliman, Ryan Milne & Ben O’Brien.
The under-16s are playing in, you guessed it, the JPL One North West division, featuring AFC Fylde, Atherton Collieries, Herald, Oldham Athletic, PFA All-Stars (Stockport), Rochdale & Tranmere Rovers.
When we came in at the start of pre-season, the coaches and I were so impressed by the technical level of the lads. Since day one, they’ve worked hard, embraced what we’re trying to do and been eager to develop and learn.
The JPL presents a really strong challenge for them – it’s a high quality league and will provide tough opposition. The lads are ambitious and have set high targets for themselves, which is a testament to their character. If we can all maintain the standards we’ve set so far and build on the good work we’ve done in pre-season, then we’re in for a really exciting season – Ben Foster (Head Coach)
Squad: Kier Barry, Lucas Boag, Daniel Price-Jordan, James Wilkinson, Billy Braithwaite, Dominic Nield, Dylan Bullman, Oliver Glover, Hayden Turner, Tom Wakefield, Eddy Heyes, Lewis Birchall, Mackenzie Brown, Sully Barker, Harrison Worthington, Kian Maguire, Charlie Tyrer, Harry Finnerty, Jude Platt & James Hale.
A first Junior Premier League season is almost upon the under-18s, who’ll be playing against Bolton County, Eagley, FCCR Manchester, FC Unsworth, Oldham Athletic & two squads from Rochdale in the JPL North West division. The squad will also enjoy the prestige that comes with competing in the FA Youth Cup; a First Round Qualifying tie looms in a fortnight against Clitheroe.
There is a real buzz about the group now that competitive football is about to start. The last couple of months have been great, training at the Lancashire FA has been very beneficial to us and we’ve got a really talented group of players. We’re in an extremely competitive section of the JPL and everyone is exciting to be involved in such a big competition as the FA Youth Cup – Alex Smart (Head Coach)
Squad: Brandon Dyson, Tom Heyes, Jack Buchannan, Reece Purcell, Harry Scarborough (c), Alex Schofield, Fred Matthews, Thomas Bentham, Owen Bullman, Jay Bramwell, Jack Singleton, Housman Nasri, Callum Walsh, Sulayman Khan, Amaan Patel, Joshua Ward, Daniel Lilley, Adel Stambouli, Joe Bowles, Josh Stansfield, Ethan Joyce, Luke Forshaw Pemberton, Jak Latham, Matty O’Neil, Liam Birchall, Rocco Carnovale, Derry McDonald, Eniola Adedotun, Luca Williams Denton, Robbie Heaton & Kian Cooper
The BTEC Education Programme squad kicks off their second National League Under-19 Alliance season next Wednesday against Stockport County. The 2020/21 H Division is made up of Altrincham, Buxton, City of Liverpool, FC United of Manchester, Marine, Rochdale, Stockport County & Wrexham.
There’s a really good feel about the BTEC programme – we’ve come a long way in a year and you can already see the improvement in the players and how important the programme will be as our new Player Pathway takes root across the entire youth setup. Our pre-season has gone very well and we can’t wait to get up and running next week – Andy Preece (Head Coach)

The under-21s (sponsored by F Word Finance) start their first year in the North West Under-21 Development League a week on Sunday with a home game against Winsford United. The rest of the Championship West division is made up of Cammell Laird 1907, Golborne Sports, Marshalls, PFA All-Stars, Runcorn Linnets, Runcorn Sports, South Liverpool, St.Michaels, UDA Soccer & Winstanley Warriors.
It’s been great being back on the training ground and working with the lads again. Their application throughout pre-season has been terrific and that has translated over into our friendlies, including comprehensive wins over Coppull Utd and Daisy Hill first teams.
Some of the lads have also had the opportunity to get involved with the first team, which is great for the Player Pathway and what we’re trying to achieve as a club. Both myself and my assistant Nathan Saint (who has worked tirelessly over the last few months) are really looking forward to the season beginning – Ben Howard (Head Coach)
