Match PreviewPreview: Stafford Rangers (a)

5th September 2020

Words: Alex Birch; Picture: Stafford Rangers FC

OUR third Northern Premier League opponent of pre-season awaits later today as we face-off with Stafford Rangers at Marston Road.

Rangers have enjoyed a consistent pre-season since finishing the now-defunct 2019/20 season rock bottom of the NPL. Jody Banim is the new man in the dugout for a side whose competitive campaign begins against his former club Ashton United on September 19.

What’s new?

We’re back in front of spectators again (Covid Capacity – 600) – away tickets are on sale via our Kaizen Ticketing online shop – £10 adults & £3 under-16s. Take a minute to check out our host’s Covid-19 Code of Conduct for fans – please note: face coverings must be worn when sitting in the mains stand.

Today’s squad

The first team/under-21/Education Programme/trialist make-up continues as we move within four weeks of our 2020/21 kick-off in the Second Round Qualifying of the FA Cup..

The Gaffer

Stafford will be another good workout for us at this stage of our pre-season preparations. We’ve come up against Jody’s teams before so we know what to expect and the test they’ll offer us. It was important for the players to get decent minutes again on Tuesday and we’ll continue in the same vein to make sure we’re ready to go in October Jamie Vermiglio

Last time we met

A 1-0 win for the Magpies in the 2016/17 FA Trophy – Kieran Charnock grabbed the only goal of the Third Round Qualifying tie at Victory Park.

Match coverage

We will be live from Marston Road bringing you all the best of the action with as much coverage as possible across our social media channels. Reaction and highlights will follow the game.

A reminder: due to Stafford’s status as a tier seven team spectators are allowed to watch – £10 adults and £3 u-16s available from the online shop.
