HERE we go then. The beginning of our match preparations for the 2020/21 National League North season take us to Finch Farm – training complex of Premier League big boys Everton.
We’re unlikely to come up against Jordan Pickford, Gylfi Sigurdsson or Richarlison later today, but there will doubtless be some stars of the not-so-distant-future in the home side’s line-up.
It’s already boring typing this but ONCE AGAIN we will be behind closed doors. Better news for Saturday’s game at Bamber Bridge, but only for the first 50 2020/21 season ticket holders to grab a ticket.
The slow crawl to October 3 and our first competitive game begins today – expect things to ramp up from here-on-in as we look to hit the ground running when the FA Cup campaign gets going.
It’s pre-season proper after a couple of local matches involving just under-21s and trialists; a first look at our new first team squad along with a few youngsters and trialists thrown in once more..
- Chorley from Matt Urwin, Lewis Dutton, Arlen Birch, Matty Taylor, Harvey Smith, Liam Langford, Scott Leather, Andy Halls, Joe White, Lewis Baines, Ollie Shenton, Adam Barton, Joe Lynch, Mike Calveley, Malakai, Elliot Newby, Udoyen Akpan, Lewis Reilly, Ollie Putnam, Kai Shorrock & Sean Miller
We’re now in full-on pre-season mode after going through some light sessions with the majority of the first team since the start of August. It will be great to get all the players together in a game situation and have a first proper look at how the new lads are fitting in. Playing Everton’s youngsters will be a good test for us, as it was last pre-season. Hopefully, with the mixture of players still at our disposal, we’ll give a good account of ourselves – Jamie Vermiglio
Last time we met
A pre-season friendly last July on a sweltering evening at Victory Park. Everton came away with a 2-0 Victory Park via an own goal and a Manasse Mampala strike.
We will be live from Finch Farm bringing you the best of the action via social media – minus Stefan Willoughby and his camera (Stef will return on Saturday at Bamber Bridge). Highlights will be available tomorrow morning.
A reminder again that tonight’s game is BEHIND CLOSED DOORS.
