AFTER four years at Victory Park, and over a decade playing around the country, Josh O’Keefe has announced his retirement from football at the age of 31.
The midfielder made 162 appearances for Chorley across the National League and National League North, scoring 21 goals, and was an important part of three playoff teams including the side that won promotion in 2018/19.
After years of telling the lads that I’m retiring, it’s finally time to call it a day in order to focus on my physio career within football. I’ve loved my time at Chorley and met some of the best people. Thank you to all the players, fans and staff – Josh O’Keefe
A Republic of Ireland under-21 international during his early years at Blackburn Rovers, O’Keefe played in the Football League for Walsall, Lincoln City and Hereford, before spells at Kidderminster and Altrincham proceeded his return to Lancashire with the Magpies.
Josh has played an important role in the recent successes we’ve had as a football club and will be missed by everyone involved at Victory Park. I know it’s not an easy decision to make, to move away from playing, but I know Josh will make a success of it and I wish him all the best – Jamie Vermiglio
Everyone associated with the Magpies would like to wish Josh all the best for the future.
