NTUMBA Massanka’s first Magpies’ goal wasn’t enough for Chorley as Rhys Murphy’s header with time expiring gave Yeovil Town all three points at Victory Park.

The visitors began the first half with purpose and were ahead after only eight minutes. A quick counter from a turnover allowed Rhys Murphy to turn Courtney Meppen-Walters on the byline, before crossing for Matt Worthington to beat Matt Urwin from eight yards.

Chorley countered with two corners that led to efforts from Nortei Nortey, but Yeovil were a constant threat at the other end. They did only force Urwin into one meaningful save as the half entered its later stages however; Remeao Htton stinging the stopper’s hands after cutting in from the right flank.

The right back created one of the final couple of decent opportunities of the half, this time hitting the byline before crossing for Murphy to head wide; Jimmy Smith hit the post and bar with the other, a close range header.

The home side rallied in the early part of the second half, limiting the Glovers’ attacks, while forcing Nelson into a decent parry from Mark Ross’s well-hit drive.

Then, with the pressure building on Yeovil, the ball finally fell right. Mark Ross hurled a long throw over from right, Meppen-Walters kept the ball alive among a load of bodies and Massanka swept home from two yards.

Both sides had chances to win the game in the final 10 minutes. Urwin saved brilliantly from a James Tilley free kick, before Blakeman hung a corner on Nelson, only for the ‘keeper to claw it away. But there was a sting in the tail when Tilley’s cross from the left with four minutes remaining was hammered home by Murphy.
