THE newly formed Chorley FC Education Programme team play their opening competitive fixture in the National League Alliance this afternoon against Warrington Town (2pm), as the first year scholars look to hit the ground running.

Set up in partnership with education provider LLS Online, the education programme offers a unique two-year course allowing students to combine full time football training with full time further education across a wide variety of subjects and qualifications (A-levels, BTEC etc..).

LLS Online operate the classroom section of the course in conjunction with Thornleigh College (Bolton), with the football side brought to you by Chorley FC, headed by UEFA Pro Licence-holding first team assistant manager Andy Preece.

The former Bury manager’s playing career took in the dizzy heights of the Premier League with Crystal Palace, as well as Stockport County and Blackpool (amongst others) and he brings over 30 years experience in football as a player, coach, manager and executive.

This programme is unique as it offers students the opportunity to study whichever they choose alongside continuing their football development. Nearly all other programmes only other a BTEC in sport, whereas we can offer a wide selection of courses. On the footballing side it will be exciting to see how our players develop between the big developing years of 16 to 19. Our job is to make sure they reach their full potential both in education and in footballAndy Preece (Head Coach, Chorley FC Education Programme)
