Chorley FC are saddened to learn of the news that Ken Wright Snr has passed away aged 98. Ken was father of current chairman Ken Wright, and a regular visitor to Victory Park – who also travelled to away games on the team bus. He was well-known to everyone.
Manager Jamie Vermiglio has paid tribute to Ken..
We are absolutely devastated to hear about the sad news. Over the years, I had grown extremely fond of him and we had developed a really strong relationship. Ken was our biggest supporter whilst at the same time being our most judgemental and straight talking critic. I’m grateful to him for keeping me on my toes and providing me with tactical guidance moments just after games.
I will remember fondly the special times we have shared travelling home from away games, sharing a glass of red wine and our special hand shake. It’s been an absolute pleasure to share moments like sealing promotion at Buxton with him and many fantastic performances this year where we’ve enjoyed a sing song on the way home. Unfortunately for his family and for Chorley FC, this is a very sad moment but we should all take strength and celebrate his fantastic life and his contributions to all of ours. On behalf of all the players and staff behind the scenes, I would like to pass on our condolences to his very strong family.
Ken’s funeral will be taking place on Friday, 14th June from 2pm at Overdale Crematorium, Bolton.
